BURGEONPlumbing

Privacy policy

What we collect from you, why, and what rights you have. Written in terms of the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013.

1. Who we are

Burgeon Plumbing is a plumbing business based in Villieria, Pretoria. We provide plumbing, drainage, geyser, solar water heating and backup water system services in Pretoria and across Gauteng.

Our Information Officer is Ferdi Coetzee, who can be reached on 082 502 7833 or at burgeonplumbing@gmail.com.

2. What we collect, and when

There is no enquiry form on this website. You reach us by phone, WhatsApp or email, and that is where the information you send us arrives.

When you ask us for a quote or book a job

  • Your name
  • Your mobile number, and your email address if you give one
  • The physical address of the property where the work is needed
  • A description of the problem or the work you want done
  • Any photographs you choose to send us

When we carry out work for you

  • A record of the work done, the parts used and what was charged
  • Photographs taken on site, where these are needed to record the work
  • Payment details you give us, such as a proof of payment or an EFT reference. We do not store card numbers or banking login details.

Automatically, when you visit this website

  • Basic technical information that any website receives — the pages you looked at, roughly where in the country you are, and what kind of device you used. We use this only to see whether the site is working and which pages people find useful. We do not use advertising cookies and we do not track you across other websites.

3. Photographs

A photograph of a problem at your home is useful to us because it tells us what to bring, which often saves you a second callout. It is also a picture of your property, so we treat it carefully.

  • Sending a photograph is optional. You can ask for a quote without one.
  • Photographs you send reach us by WhatsApp or email and are stored there, on your phone as well as ours. Be aware that a photograph taken on a phone usually carries the location where it was taken.
  • We delete photographs from enquiries that did not become a job. Where the work went ahead we keep them as a record of what was there before we started.
  • We do not publish a photograph of your property or your work anywhere unless you have given us permission.

4. Why we are allowed to hold it

  • You asked us to. You cannot be quoted or booked in without giving us your name, number and address.
  • We have a contract with you, and we need the information to do the work and invoice for it.
  • The law requires it. SARS requires us to keep invoices and financial records.
  • You consented, for anything beyond the above — for example, permission to use a photograph of your installation on our website.

5. Who else sees it

We are a small business and we do not sell, rent or trade your information. It is seen by:

6. Information leaving South Africa

Two things cross the border. This website is served from a hosting provider with servers outside South Africa, which receives technical information about your visit but not your enquiry. And if you contact us by WhatsApp or email, those messages are handled by Meta and by our email provider on servers outside the country, under their own privacy terms. If you would rather your information stayed in South Africa, phone us instead.

This website is served over an encrypted connection. Our email and WhatsApp accounts are protected with two-factor authentication and are accessible only to Burgeon Plumbing. Job records are kept on a password-protected device. We do not keep paper files of customer information in the vehicle.

If personal information in our care is accessed by someone who should not have it, we will report it to the Information Regulator and tell you, as POPIA requires.

9. Your rights

You may, at any time and at no cost, ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct anything that is wrong, ask us to delete information we no longer need (though we cannot delete invoices SARS requires us to keep), withdraw a consent you previously gave, or object to how we are using your information.
